Nigeria Correctional Service Restates Commitment to Professional Competence.

The Nigeria Correctional Service has restated its commitment towards building Professionally Competent, ethnically Grounded and Operationally agile workforce. The Controller General of the Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche made the disclosure in Abuja at the Opening Session of a three day workshop on Review and Development of Training Curriculum for Correctional Service Training Institutions, held in Abuja.
Nwakuche, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Controller General, Head of Human Resources, Ado sale, noted that in today's ever changing security landscape, continuous training and retraining of personnel are not just essential but are indispensable. While charging the participants to make the best out of the initiative, the Controller General of Corrections said the workshop aligned with his vision of reposition the service through capacity Development, research-informed content and transformative instructional practices.
Speaking on the essence of the workshop, the Deputy Controller General in charge of Training and Staff Development, Amoron Lanre and one of the Resource Persons at the event, Professor Alemika, posited that the Nigeria Correctional Service is lagging behind in the area of training noting that the state of criminal Justice requires constant training for Security Operatives.
Some of the participants described the training as timely as well as imperative for new trends in the operations of the Nigeria Correctional Service. They expressed optimism that at the end of the exercise, the service will be better for it in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities
