PSC Sues For Transparent And Credible 2025 Recruitment Exercise

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has pledged to work closely with state governments to ensure a transparent and credible 2025 police recruitment exercise, targeting Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) and Constables.

At a stakeholders’ consultative meeting held Thursday at the Parry Osayande Auditorium, Abuja, PSC Chairman, DIG HashimuArgungu (rtd), urged states to safeguard their recruitment quota and prevent hijack of the process.

In a statement released by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the commission reaffirmed its determination to protect the integrity of the recruitment exercise.

He warned against slot trading and promised that merit and equity would guide the exercise stressing that the commission has decided to stop corruption in the system and open up the exercise to promote healthy competition and equitable spread.

Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (rtd), PSC Commissioner representing the Judiciary, stressed that the commission was created to ensure fairness and would rely on states to verify the origin of candidates.

Also speaking, DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Commissioner representing the Police, commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment and vowed to produce the best Nigerian youths for the force.

PSC Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, disclosed plans to open state offices for more effective oversight and sought the cooperation of state governments.

The meeting resolved to hold regular consultations, with state representatives pledging full support for the process.
